Looking for a place to stay in the Algarve for one month, a few months or even longer? Salema Eco Camp offers long-stay options for people who want more time in Portugal, with space for camping and caravanning, accommodation, coworking, nature, activities and easy access to the coast.
Whether you are escaping the colder months in Northern Europe, working remotely, travelling with a campervan or simply looking for a different way to experience the Algarve, staying longer gives you something a short holiday cannot: time to create a routine.
Here is what you need to know before choosing Salema Eco Camp for your long stay.

What is the weather like in the Algarve during the winter?
MORE TIME OUTSIDE, THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
September · 21,2°C
Still warm. Perfect for beach days, walks and long evenings outside.
October · 18°C
Mild days for hiking, cycling, exploring and enjoying the coast without the summer crowds.
November · 14,5°C
Cooler days, but still a comfortable climate for getting outside and exploring.
December · 12°C
Winter arrives gently, with mild daytime temperatures and cooler evenings.
January · 11–12°C
The coolest month of the year — but still considerably milder than Northern European winters.
February · 13–15°C
Temperatures begin to rise again, bringing more opportunities for outdoor days.
One of the main reasons people choose the Algarve for a long stay is the climate.
Compared with Northern Europe, the Algarve has a mild climate throughout the year, including during the winter months. While winter does bring cooler days, rain and occasional windy weather, there are also many days when it is possible to spend time outdoors comfortably.
For a long stay, this makes a real difference.
You can go for a walk before work, have lunch outside, explore the coast in the afternoon or simply spend more time in nature without having to plan your entire day around the weather.
The Algarve is not permanently sunny in winter. But it offers something valuable for anyone looking for a longer stay: more opportunities to live outdoors throughout the year.

Where Can You Stay at Salema Eco Camp?
A long stay does not have to mean the same thing for everyone.
At Salema Eco Camp, we offer different long-stay options, from camping with your own motorhome or campervan, to glamping and accommodation in studios and apartments.
Long Stay Camping · Bring Your Own Home
For those travelling by motorhome, campervan or caravan, Salema Eco Camp has around 7 hectares dedicated to camping and caravanning, divided into different areas and pitches.
You can choose the space that best suits the way you travel, whether you are looking for more privacy, more space or closer proximity to the shared facilities.
It is an option designed for those who already have their own home on wheels and want to stay in the Algarve for several weeks or months, while keeping the freedom of having their own space.
Long Stay Glamping · More Comfort, Without Losing Touch with Nature
If you want to experience staying at Salema Eco Camp but are looking for a ready-to-stay option with more comfort, our long-stay glamping includes different types of accommodation.
Here you can find Lodges, Yurts, Inlands and Mobile Homes, each with its own characteristics.
It is an option for those who want to stay longer, have their own space and continue to live surrounded by nature, without having to bring a motorhome or set up a campsite.
Long Stay Studios & Apartments · A Home for a While
For those looking for an experience closer to a traditional home, we also offer studios and apartments for long stays.
This option provides more independence and comfort during a stay of several weeks or months, while keeping all the advantages of being within Salema Eco Camp.
It is particularly suited to people working remotely, couples travelling together or anyone looking for a base in the Algarve for a while.

Can you work remotely from Salema Eco Camp?
Yes.
For digital nomads, remote workers and anyone combining travel with work, having reliable access to a workspace can be essential when staying for several weeks or months.
Salema Eco Camp has a coworking space open 24 hours, allowing you to organise your working hours around your own routine.
You can work in the morning, take a break to walk to the beach, return to work later or finish your day exploring the Algarve.
The idea is not to stop working while you travel.
It is to make work part of a lifestyle that gives you more access to nature and outdoor life.
What facilities are available for a long stay?
A long stay is very different from a two-night holiday.
When you stay for weeks or months, the everyday details matter.
At Salema Eco Camp, you have access to:
- 24-hour coworking
- Restaurant
- Eco Store
- Weekly activities
- Alma Mater yoga and wellbeing activities
- Access to the beach
- Beach transfer
- Different camping and caravanning areas
- Apartments and studios
- Shared facilities and bathrooms
- Natural outdoor spaces
- Access to hiking and cycling routes
- Connections to the local area and nearby towns
The goal is to make it possible to stay for longer without feeling that you have to leave the campsite every time you need something.

What can you do during a long stay in the Algarve?
One of the advantages of staying for longer is having time to explore without turning every day into a sightseeing trip.
Salema is located in the Western Algarve, close to the coast and the Rota Vicentina.
The Fishermen’s Trail passes through the region, connecting the landscapes between Sagres and Lagos.
From Salema, you can explore beaches, walking trails, villages, local restaurants and the wider Algarve at your own pace.
You can also stay close to home.
Take a walk.
Go to the beach.
Join a yoga class.
Work from the coworking space.
Have lunch at the restaurant.
Meet people.
Read a book.
Do nothing.
When you stay for a few months, you do not need to see everything in the first week.
That is one of the biggest advantages of a long stay.
Is Salema Eco Camp suitable for people travelling alone?
It can be.
A common concern when travelling alone for a longer period is finding the balance between privacy and social connection.
At Salema Eco Camp, you have your own space while also having access to shared areas, activities, the restaurant, coworking and other places where people naturally meet.
You do not have to be social all the time.
You can be independent while still having people around you.
For many long-stay guests, that balance is an important part of the experience.
Is Salema Eco Camp good for couples, families and digital nomads?
Long stays can work for different types of travellers.
Couples can use Salema as a base to explore the Algarve together.
Families can benefit from the outdoor space and access to nature.
Digital nomads and remote workers can combine work with a slower lifestyle and outdoor activities.
Travellers with campervans, motorhomes and caravans can bring their own home with them and stay for longer.
The important question is not only who you are travelling with.
It is what kind of everyday life you want to have while you are here.
